Austrian Futurity

Cody Sapergia claims Futurity Open Championship L4, 3-year-old Horses again – Manuel Cortesi wins L3

He did it again: scoring a 218.5, NRHA Million Dollar Rider and past NRHA World Champion Open Cody Sapergia claimed the AustrianRHA Futurity Championship Open L4 3-year-old horses for the second time in a row – this time aboard Whiz Electric Spark (Jacs Electric Spark x Remmicks Whiz) , a stallion bred by Matthias Koch and owned by Franz Josef Braidt. Braidt was also the owner of the Co-Reserve Champion Desire Big Chex (Big Chex To Cash x Topsails Desire) with whom Cody scored a 217.5. The AQHA/APHA stallion bred by Carlo Orsi, lad been leading after the go round.
„Whiz Electric Spark was great today – especially in the circles and the last two stops, said Cody. “ I’ve got him since October, and this was our first real show. I’m really happy with him – as I am with Desire Big Chex. They are great, athletic horses!“
Manuel Cortesi and PC Magnum Step Dream (Magnum Chic Dream x Wimpys Precious Step) scored a 217.5 as well earning the Reserve Championship L4 as well as the Futurity Championship L3 errang. Cortesi was 2011 FEI European Champion Young Riders, ARHA Futurity Champion Non Pro and NRHA European Derby Champion Non Pro.
Reserve Champion Level 3 was Fabio Polesel aboard Venus Jabalina Star (RS Little Red Jaba x Little Jac), owned by Valentino Pettarini – their score: 216..

AustrianRHA Futurity Champion Open L4: Grischa Ludwig - Dennis Schulz claims L3 Championship

The 2015 AustrianRHA Futurity ended with an unbelievable final: the last rider, Grischa Ludwig and the 4-year-old Paint stallion Doctors Diamond (Jazalena Diamond x Nu Chex Rose) scored a 223 for owner Dr. Paul Van Hooft claiming the Futurity Championship Open Level 4.

For Grischa Ludwig, it was another great success in an already phantastic season which included the FEI European Reserve Championship (both individual and team) only one week before this show. “I got Doctors Diamond about a year ago,“ Grischa said. „They had just started him then, and he was really green. This was our very first show. He is still green, and we had quite some penalties in the go round, but we still got a 217, which shows the great potential of this horse.”
„I would never have expected to have a chance of winning today. I simply wanted to have a smooth, flawless ride with him. And then this. Doctors Diamond is one of those horses you can simply show through a pattern without big fuss, and he still looks great to the judges.“

Dominik Reminder and his Paint mare La Marka de Gunner (Colonels Smokin Gun x Smokin Marquita) became Reserve Champion for owner Luga Quarter Horses scoring a 221. With this mare, past NRHA World Open Res. Champion Reminder was 6th at the NRHA Breeders Futurity SBH Open 2014.
The Level 3 Open final ended with another success for Dennis Schulz and Whiz Ice (Laredo Whiz x Authentic Smarima). The stallion bred by Helmut Schulz and owned by Katharina Fahrner had already won the Level 2 Open Futurity and now claimed the Level 3 as well scoring a 217.5. In 2014, Dennis Schulz and Whiz Ice were AustrianQHA Futurity Champion.
The Reserve Championship was earned by Gerald Freitag aboard Gimme Spangled Stars (Star Spangled Whiz x Shawnee Buena Chex) who scored a 216.5 for owner and breeder Judith Ernst.

Thus ended a spectacular AustrianRHA Futurity, which was commented by Futurity Champion Grischa Ludwig as follows: „Here in Wiener Neustadt, there is always a very high level of sport. In fact, the AustrianRHA Futurity is one of Europe’s top 3 events besides the Italian Futurity and the Breeders Futurity!“
